Hiking means something different to every person you meet who does it. Some hike for the views, others hike for the exercise, and more hike out to new places to say they did it. One person I met said they wanted to exhaust themselves and that was it. Personally, I hike to enjoy the views when I can, but more often I hike as a sort of therapy. The more occupied my body is with the task at hand, the less occupied my mind can be; you keep going while you’re alone with your thoughts, and then you keep going further until those thoughts are silent. Day to day life has “too many mind”.
